Long ago, many kings used to live in all the provinces of Bengal starting from here. Many zamindars lived under them. They also had a lot of land and places under them. In ancient times a zamindar used to live in a village called Sarupadah. And gradually when the zamindar system started to go away, just like the present zamindar system and disintegration took hold.
